Turquoise disc offered by the mexicas is restored

Mexico, Mar (Notimex) .- Specialists of the Museum of the Templo Mayor (MTM, for its acronym in Spanish) of Mexico City restored a turquoise disc decorated with the representations of seven warriors, which was part of one of the offerings of the Mexicas more than 500 years ago.

The restoration lasted nine months.

The specialists assembled  more than 15 thousand turquoise tiles one by one to make up the disk of 28 centimeters in diameter.

In the Nahua worldview, turquoise was associated with fire, time, real power and political succession, said researcher Emiliano Melgar.
