Mexico (Notimex) – International tourism to Mexico grew 6.9 percent from January to September this year, compared with the same period a year ago, said Hector Flores, director of the Mexican Tourism Promotion Council.
Tourism spending grew 4.5 percent in that period, reaching $16.6 billion.
The figures have had a positive impact on the Mexican economy’s trade deficit, as tourism accounts for a third of the country’s revenues.
Flores said that one of the priorities of the current administration was to curb the negative impact of certain risks to Mexican tourism destinations.
