Enel begins construction of $115-million wind farm

Mexico (Notimex) – Enel Green Power Mexico, a unit of Italy’s Enel, has begun building a $115-million wind farm in the northern state of Coahuila.

The project, called Amistad II, will have a capacity of 100 megawatts, and was awarded during Mexico’s third long-term bid.

The project is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2020, and once it reaches full capacity, it will generate some 350 Gwh per year, avoiding 190,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

The wind farm will be built under Enel’s Sustainable Construction Sites model, which incorporates a rational use of resources such as recycling material and saving water.
