London's Marion Friedmann gallery presents contemporary Mexican design

London (Notimex) - The Marion Friedmann gallery in central London has opened an exhibition of contemporary Mexican design.

The exhibition includes unique pieces made from obsidian, ceramics, black clay, as well as jewellery and garments.

The objects were carefully chosen among 30 Mexican designers.

"Some of them are well known artists, but others are emerging designers that are presented for the first time in this exhibit, the first of its kind," said Friedmann.

Some of the most valuable pieces include crystal, jade, steel and wooden rings.

Another notable piece is a tapestry by Elissa Medina, made in the style of traditional Huichol art.

Alejandro Curi is presenting his environmentally friendly collection of shoes with soles made from car tires.

A project called Guardian of the Oceans makes bags with plastic taken from the sea.

The exhibition and sale will be open from September 15 to 23.
