Mexican and French film makers seek co-productions

Paris (Notimex) - Mexican film makers travelled to France for a bilateral meeting to seek more co-production projects.

"The idea is to seek a French co-producer to partner with and make Mexican-French films," said José Miguel Alvarez, director of Cinematography Production Support at the Mexican Cinematography Institute.

"At the institute, we believe co-productions are a way of developing national cinema, not only to make more projects, but also to strenghten their promotion and distribution around the world," he added.

This is the second meeting of its kind. "We are repeating this experience aiming to create stronger bonds between both countries, and we hope to see co-productions in the making over the next months," Alvarez sadi.

"It's very healthy for our cinema industry to co-produce with other countries, it's necessary. France is a strategic partner," said Mexican director Juan Manuel Sepulveda.
