Mexico leads Latin America car production in first quarter
Rio de Janeiro (Notimex) - Mexico was Latin America's top car producer at the end of the first quarter this year, according to Brazilian and Mexican industry sources.
From January to March, Mexico produced 963,000 cars, slightly lower than the 966,000 from the same period a year ago. Production slowed down mainly due to the Easter holiday season, according to the sources.
The holiday season also had an effect on sales, but exports remained the same.
Last year, Mexican manufacturing plants surpassed the 3.7 million car mark. It was also the third year that Mexican production remained higher than Brazil's.
