New Mazatlán aquarium among the 10 largest in the world
Mexico (Notimex) – The northern state of Sinaloa, on Mexico’s Pacific coast, will open a new aquarium in the city of Mazatlán.
The new aquarium, called Mar de Cortés, will be among the 10 largest in the world.
The aquarium will also serve as a study and research center, mainly focusing on species found in the Sea of Cortés, with investment from the local and federal government, as well as private resources.
“We’ve worked with three U.S. companies for this aquarium, Acuario EHTD, TJP and Space House,” said Guillermo Zerecero, spokesman for the Parque Central project and member of the Mazatlán Trust.
The aquarium will have a capacity for 5 million liters of water, and a volume capacity of 5,000 square meters.
