Mexico (Notimex) - German luxury car maker Audi said it has surpassed its production goals in Mexico after one year of operations in the country.
During its first year in Mexico, Audi produced 158,550 units of its Q5 model, made in its plant in the eastern state of Puebla.
"We owe this achievement in particular to our committed employees who beat our production goal of 150,000 Audi Q5s," said Peter Kössler, member of the company's logistics and production committee.
The company added that sales of its SUV produced in Mexico grew 4.8 percent compared with the previous year, reaching 281,854 units sold.
The Audi Q5 has won several awards, including SUV of the Year and the Golden Steering Wheel.
"The awards that the Q5 has received underline the extraordinary work done in Mexico," said Alfons Dintner, president of the Audi Mexico Administration Committee.
