Mexico spearheads solar energy sector in Latin America
Mexico (Notimex) -- Mexico is set to become a spearhead in Latin America's solar energy sector, the Mexican Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy, Asolmex, said.
There are currently 30 solar projects installed or being built in nine states, mainly in the north, which represent an investment of some $5 billion and an installed capacity of 4,000 megawatts.
Among the advantages of investing in Mexico are that 85 percent of the country's territory is deemed to be suitable for solar farms.
The projects can also be installed in the same areas where there is demand, cutting transmission costs.
