Mexican oil firm gets historic permit to drill in Texas

Dallas (Notimex) -- The state of Texas has agreed for the first time in history to allow a Mexican company drill the Barnett Shale basin in Jack County, northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Mexico-based Petrobal Omega will drill a 5,000-feet deep.

Mexico's energy reform has allowed Mexican companies operate overseas.

Petrobal Omega is a subsidiary of Grupo Bal, which has businesses in mining, insurance, finance and trade.
