Mexican scientist creates software to find victims in disaster zones
Mexico (Notimex) -- Mexican scientist Israel Reyes has created a software designed to help find people in disaster zones.
The software was created in 2013 in New Zealand, and has earned Reyes a nomination for the National Science Award 2017.
The software allows rescuers know the number of people trapped under collapsed buildings after an earthquake, hurricane or terrorist attack, thus improving governments' response times and rescue efforts.
Reyes said that he is currently working with Mexico's IPN school to improve the project with more technology, neuroscience and applied mathematics.
