Mexico (Notimex) -- Every year the streets of Mexico City's historic center are the setting of a parade of monumental 'Alebrijes,' brightly colored folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures.
This year the parade will take place on October 21, with some 200 of these scultpures.
The Alebrijes are made from cardboard, paper, wood and other materials, and painted in bright colors.
After the parade, the figures will be put on display along Paseo de la Reforma until November 5.
The parade is organized by artisans and the Museum of Popular Art.
The size of the Alebrijes varies from a minimum of 2 meters tall and 1.8 meters in width and length, to 2.6 meters tall and 2.3 meters in width and length.
