Second round of Nafta talks successful, says business group leader
Mexico (Notimex) -- The second round of the North American Free Trade Agreement renegotiation talks were successful, said Juan Pablo Castañon, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE).
The second round of talks made progress in easing trade for small and medium enterprises, Castañon said.
The third round of talks is expected to take place in Canada from September 24 to 29, Castañon said, citing Mexican Economy minister Ildefonso Guajardo.
During that last week, Castañon said he is sure the talks will make significant advancements, although he admitted negotiations have been slow with regards to competitiveness and labor.
Although talks on energy have yet to begin, Castañon said that there is a shared vision between the U.S., Mexico and Canada to reach an agreement soon.
“It’s something that is good for business in all three countries,” he added.
