Glastonbury Festival was inaugurated by a pre-Hispanic Mexican ceremony
Glastonbury Festival was inaugurated by a pre-Hispanic Mexican ceremony The ritual is performed by five people, four 'flyers' and one musician who plays a flute and a drum. The participants perform a dance before climbing a 30-metre pole from where they launch themselves tied with ropes (which has been previously wound around the pole) from their feet, while the musician plays his instruments standing on top of the pole. The flyers slowly descend in a circular motion as the ropes unwind from the pole.
