Cinco De Mayo parade in Puebla
The city of Puebla, to the east of Mexico City, celebrates 5 de Mayo with a parade through its central streets. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory against the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The cars in the parade represent that battle, as well as the Popocatépetl volcano, the Puebla Cathedral, the Mexica god Quetzalcóatl, and other traditional aspects of Puebla culture.
